A countryside retreat shaped by nature, intimacy, and sensitive architecture
Idilio is a 1,600 sq ft country home conceived as a warm retreat within a cool landscape, surrounded by native trees that become central to the design. The residence is rooted in a deep respect for the existing natural environment, integrating subtly and harmoniously into its surroundings.
This project was designed for a young couple seeking to disconnect, embrace silence, and live an intimate experience in direct connection with the landscape. The architecture responds to this intention through cozy spaces, honest materials, and an atmosphere that invites you to stay.
Architecture that Respects and Adapts
The design begins with a fundamental challenge: preserving the essence of the site. The residence is carefully positioned among native trees, avoiding interference with their natural growth and adapting to their forms. The steel structure allows for greater visual lightness and precision in placement, resulting in an architecture that rests gently on the land.
The Kiss of the Trees
One of the most distinctive elements of the project is “the kiss of the trees”—two native trees that, as they grow, form a natural arch at their upper canopy.
The primary bedroom is strategically oriented to frame this phenomenon, and its private terrace is positioned directly beneath it, allowing the living experience to connect intimately with this symbolic moment.
Cozy Double-Height Living Space
The heart of the home is its spacious double-height social area, where a wood-burning fireplace becomes the focal point. This space enhances the sense of openness while creating a warm atmosphere that contrasts with the exterior climate.
Outdoor Spaces Designed for Cooler Climates
The project extends its experience outdoors with a fire pit, conceived as a gathering point within the landscape. This element reinforces the project’s intent: to create spaces that allow residents to enjoy the natural surroundings without compromising comfort.
Warm and Essential Interior Design
The interior is defined by a restrained and welcoming aesthetic, where materials, lighting, and textures work together to create a sense of refuge. Each element is thoughtfully considered to bring warmth, without competing with the true protagonist: the landscape.
